first buy any history book and read it for 1 hour or half an hour daily when ur free along with ur studies if not studies then read daily for 3 to 4 hours with some interval if any doubts came then u better ask that doubt to a teacher or expert in history ......

You can make a short notes like
Eg- Battle of Buxar - 22nd October - British - Calcutta rulers- Awadh ruler- Mughal ruler - Mughal end - British more powerful .
See you made a short notes like this , but with this you can expand it !
Remember the main important names , dates , how , what influence was made !
