Wash the rice with red lentil or moong daal and keep aside soaking. Take pure ghee or oil in a vessel u want to make the khichadi. Put one onion cut in slices, keep the onion till translucent then mix a spoonful of ginger garlic paste( depends on the amount of rice u r taking). Sauté till the ginger garlic paste loses its rawness.Then add salt as per taste n a pinch of haldi sauté n quickly add water to this to avoid the haldi from burning.Take the water exactly double the amount of rice and pour in the vessel.Let it come to boil ,then strain the soaking rice and to this boiling water,let it cook,if u want u can put in some mint leaves while the rice is cooking,gives a nice flavour.Occasionally keep mixing the rice , if u feel the rice is not cooked and the water has evaporated u can add a little and slow down the flame, cover with a lid,after about a few minutes check the rice if it’s done ok if not just turn the upper layer in.keep for a few more minutes On a very low flame n u r khichadi is ready.
