How can meristematic tissue help in the growth in plants?

It is responsible for growth of plant. Meristematic tissue has the ability to divide and redivide to provide growth to plants.Generally, growth of plants occurs from specific region like root and shoot, nodes, girth of stem, leaf base etc. Therefore, meristematic tissue is present in these regions.

There three types of them:

Apical meristem:they are located at the tip of rokts and shoots. Then help in growth of lenght.

Intercalary meristem:They are located in between internods and roots. They help in growth of branches

Lateral meristem:it is located at lateral sides of bark they help in the increase of girth.
