By heating or by applying pressure on a matter the physical state can be changed.    

  There are mainly 3 phases of matter which are named as a liquid, solid and gaseous state of matter. All these three states of matter can interchange into each other.    

  Like as we increase the temperature the solid state of water that is ice changes to liquid water. If you increase more temperature by heating, liquid water will change to gaseous water vapor.
