How can political parties be reormed? Explain

Some reforms to strengthen the working of political parties-

• The Constitution was amended to prevent elected MLA's and MP's from changing parties. Now the law say that if any MLA or MP change parties, he or she will lose the seat. This amended law has helped bring defection down.

• The SC passed an order to reduce influence of money and criminals. Now it is mandatory for every candidate who contests elections to fill an affidavit giving details pf his property and criminal cases pending against him or her. This new system has made a lot of information available to the public.

• The Election Commission passed an order making it necessary for political parties to hold their organisational elections and file their income tax returns.
