Hello friend,
# Hydroboration-oxidation -
The addition of borane followed by oxidation is known as the hydroboration-oxidation reaction.
# Propene→Propan-1-ol-
Propene is converted to propan-1-ol by hydroboration-oxidation.
Initially, propene reacts with diborane to form trialkyl borane as addition product.
CH3-CH=CH2 + (BH3)2 → CH3-CH(H)-CH2(BH2)
CH3-CH(H)-CH2(BH2) + CH3-CH=CH2 → (2CH3-CH-CH2)2-BH
(2CH3-CH-CH2)2-BH + CH3-CH=CH2 → (2CH3-CH-CH2)3-B
This addition product is oxidized to alcohol by hydrogen peroxide in the presence of aqueous sodium hydroxide
(2CH3-CH-CH2)3-B + 3H2O2 + 6OH- → 3CH3-CH-CH2-OH + B(OH)3
Hope you got it...
