The short answer is: pure water does not conduct electricity. Any impurities, like salts, in the water enable it to conduct electricity. When salts are dissolved in water, they separate into different electrically charged atoms called ions.

Pure water cannot conduct electricity, because it does not contain ions. Because of diluting pure water with acid or a base or a salt, because they produce ions due to the dilution.

Pure water does not conduct electricity.Only water can conduct electricity because it has some minerals present in it.
