Let's start off with :-

What's the most common form of water available to us ?

Answer - Salt Water

It has content of NaCl in it which is not desirable for certain reactions so in laboratories pure H₂O is used in reactions.

The process of distillation is used in laboratories to obtain pure water which is Distilled Water.

Process:-

Water is heated to its boiling temperature where it evaporates into steam leaving NaCl behind. The vapors are then condensed in a condenser and the condensed water is collected in a beaker which is 100% pure.

Process Complete ! We have obtained Distilled Water !
