how can rain water be harvested?

rain water can be harvested by using the methods of rain water harvesting....in this process...the precipitated water is collected in roof and the collected water is taken to ground level tank at first.later it is taken to the undergroundlevel tanks and later used by us through drifting the water up through motors.this collected water can be used for bathing,sanitation,watering,and after filtration it can be used in cooking and for drinking purposes....
