how can rutherford model said that there is empty space in the atom.


Shikhar2313: Rutherford conducted an experiment in which he bombarded a very thin gold foil with the nuclei of helium. He obderved that most of the rays passed through the gold foil undeviated thus concluding about the fact that most of the space in an atom is vacant

Most of the alpha rays goes straight through the gold foil,it shows that there is a lot of empty space in it.
