The "general climate of an area" can be described with the aid of the "lines of latitudes" as the temperature decreases north and southwards starting from the equator. Latitudes are "imaginary lines" dividing the earth into two halves namely the "northern and the southern hemispheres". These lines help in identifying the time, climate and also the location of a place. The area between 23 1/2° N and 23 1/2° S is slightly less hot than the equatorial area. The climate here is tropical in nature. The regions between 23 1/2° to 66 1/2° North and South enjoy Temperate climate which cooler than the tropical and the equatorial regions. Above and below the temperate zone lies the "Arctic and Antarctic circles" with cold temperatures. It’s also called the Tundra Region.
