How can the indian constitution protect minorities from being dominated by those form a majority

this is basically from a lesson of constitution. it says that the constitution protect minorities from being dominated by those from a majority. but how??
the answer to this is very simple the main thing is that it gives the minorities all the rights of citizens and equality to them. listen to their demand they ask from the constitution.
