When two forces are acting upon the object, there are two cases, the forces are of two types, Balanced and Unbalanced. If Balanced forces act upon an object, the objects velocity remains constant, i.e at 0(rest) or at larger numbers, but it doesn't change. When forces are unbalanced, it's velocity keeps changing or we can say it keeps accelerating.
