How can the poem Ozymandias be compared to today's society

It's applicable to the futility of trying to make our mark on the world through materialistic gains and conquests. The competition to build the highest building or the largest stadium or the strongest military all won't amount to much in a few thousand years, but what will count are the people we've reached, because those are legacies that will be forever passed down from generation to generation.

In the poem Ozymandias, Ozymandias was an arrogant ruler and had not done any work for public similarly we can see today several politicians who just focus on their own words instead of work.
