Assertive Sentence:

These sentences indicates a simple statement. About 80% of sentences belongs to this group. The rules of arrangement of such sentences are [S-V-O/Complement/Adverbs]. For examples:

  • Sourav plays cricket.
  • There were many students in the class.

Interrogative Sentence:

There are probably three rules of forming Interrogative sentences, Here are they.

(a) The verb Be and it forms- is,am,are,was,were,etc. Have forms -has, have, had and Auxillaries like shall, will, should,would,may,might,must,can,could etc. are placed before the subject in an Interrogative sentences.

  • Is kim your brother?
  • Will he buy apples for me?

(b)The verb Do forms like Do,Did,Does is placed before the subject in absence of the above listed verbs in point(a).

  • Did you write a letter?
  • Do you play chess?

(c)Wh words like What, which,why etc. are also used.They also come first,if necessary in both types as in point (a) and(b).

  • Who are you?
  • Who is your best friend?
  • Why did you come here?
