I just know 50° Fahrenheit is 10° Celsius. I’ve found it useful to remember a few equivalences.
For other Fahrenheit temperatures and for most purposes (in a temperate climate), I recall the nearest equivalence and divide the difference in Fahrenheit by two to get the difference in Celsius.
For example, Let’s take 72° F. I know 68° F = 20° C. The difference is 4° F - divide by 2 approx 2° C. Add 20° + 2° to get 22° C.
The ‘proper’ way to do this, is subtract 32° F and multiply by 5/9. So for 72° F, 72–32 = 40, multiply by 5/9 gives 200/9 = 22.2° C
Similarly for 50° F, subtract 32 to give 18 and multiply by 5/9 to get 10° C
