Record it's reading when in air. Let it be W1.
Therefore, mass of stone will be W1/acceleration due to gravity.
Now dip the stone in the cylinder filled with water.
Now record the reading again. Let it be W2.
We know, As per archimedes principle,
Weight of water displaced= Buoyant force=Real weight- Apparent weight = W1-W2.
Therefore, Volume of water displaced by stone = Volume of stone = Weight of water displaced/ density of water×acceleration due to gravity = V(let).
By finding the volume, we can calculate density of stone by Mass of stone/Volume of stone.
