As compared to other tissues, the cells of connective tissue are separated from each other. The space between the cells is composed of a non-cellular matrix.  The most abundant fiber in connective tissues is a tough protein called collagen. Connective tissues connect and help hold our body together. They provide internal support as well as give and maintain form to the body. They protect the body. The connective tissue can be found everywhere in the body. The connective tissue mainly consists of blood, bones, and areolar tissue.
