How can water being a compound is a homogeneous mixture ?

Pure water is not a mixture at all - it is just one substance, water. Water as it comes out of your tap, however, tends to have a number of different compounds dissolved into it, and thus can be thought of as ahomogeneous mixture. No. Wateris homogeneous, but it is acompound, not a mixture.
