They can be classified as renewable and non renewable source of energy.
Natural resources are considered renewable if they can be replenished within a relatively short period of time like forests, wildlife. Non renewable resources must be considered gone forever once used up because they take millions of years to regenerate like coal, petroleum.
Renewable resources can be further classified as exhaustible and non exhaustible resources. The resources which can not be depleted even after continuos use like wind, sun light and water are called non exhaustible resources. The resources which can be depleted by continuos use like forests, wild life etc. are exhaustible resources.
