Destarching occurs in a plant when a part of a plant is "deprived of starch, as by translocation". It is also the process of eliminating starch reserves in a plant for experiments concerning photosynthesis. This is done by leaving the plant(s) in a dark place for a long period of time.

WE CAN TEST A DESTARCHED PLANT BY THE FOLOWING WAYS

1. First put the leaf in boiling water .

2. Then put 2to3 drops of iodine solution .

3 .If the leaf turns blue ,it shows the presence of starch ..

But if it does not show the colour it means it is DESTARCHED ...
