by finding the angle of contact and then solve according to formula of meniscus

The shape of meniscus is determined by the cohesiveness or adhesiveness of the type of liquid. The meniscus which curves downwards means the liquid has strong cohesive force than adhesive force. When it curves upwards it reveals that the liquid has stronger adhesive force than cohesive force. When meniscus of liquid curves upward in a calibrated container the volume of the liquid is determined by reading the values at the bottom of the curving point.
