Whether your blood group is type A, B, AB or O is based on the blood types of your mother and father. Each blood type is also grouped by its Rhesus factor, or Rh factor. Blood is either Rh positive (Rh+) or Rh negative (Rh-). Rhesus refers to another type of antigen, or protein, on the surface of red blood cells.

Blood Groups can be determined used the Antigens present of the Surface of RBCs .
For Example
1) A Blood Group has B antigen on the surfaces of RBCs , if any other type of blood is given to a person with A blood group then the Blood will coagulate and the Antigen B will React with Antibody B in the B blood Group
So Blood groups basically can be determined by Antigen antibody Reactions .
