How can we distinguish the living from the nonliving things?

Cell is the smallest unit of life. Thus, only living cells have cells. This is one way we can distinguish living from non-living cells.

Living things are made up of cells. They grow day by day. They have movement & locomotion. They intake food for energy for metabolic activities. etc...
Examples: Human, animals, plants, etc..
Non-living things have no life. They can't move or grow.
examples: pen,notebook,eraser etc..
