This is an essay I wrote on behalf of my father for a recent essay competition held by his bank management on occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week.
Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India
India, as a nation wears many an honorable crown; it is considered the cradle of civilization, it was the herald of the Vedic culture, the harbinger of Sanatana (orthodox) Hinduism, the birthplace of Lord Buddha and Buddhism. It was the center of mathematics, astronomy, medicine, architecture, engineering, philosophy, and art for a prolonged time in history. Less than 500 years ago it was the largest economy in the world accumulating 27% of the whole world’s GDP. It is the largest democracy in the world. It was the country that Alexander the Great dreamt of ruling over to complete his world conquest, an economy that even Europe envied and was eager to cross seven oceans to make trade with, a nation that enlightened the human civilization with knowledge and literature.
