sun appears red at sunrise or sunset because light rays have to travel long distance in the earth's atmosphere to reach our eyes during the sunrise and sunset. Red colour has highest wavelength so due to long distance short wavelengths scattered and red colour appears to us. on the other hand during the time of noon light rays have to travel short distance to reach our eyes so it doesn't appears red.
