Take a bar magnet with north and south poles marked on it. Bring the bar magnet close to the circular magnet. The part of the circular magnet which attracts the north pole bar magnet is the south pole of the circular magnet and the one which attracts the south pole of the bar magnet is the north pole of the circular magnet.
