how can we find out that living things need air for survival

it can be measure by n experiment.
just took a plant and kept it in a dark place with full packed box.... and soon u see that it's total comes to die... which proved that all living things need oxygen, light, etc.....

The suggestes experiment is cruel in nature.

Procedure:
Build a vaccum chamber and place all the necessary items like food and water for the living being u choose.
suck out the air and observe.

observation:
The poor animal will choke to death inspite of having food and water.

Result: living beings need air for survival.
