how can we increase the water table?

The one & only solution is to conserve / harvest/ save rain water. Second point is to control the use of water as it is now a precious matter for all living beings. Every drop of rain water should not be allowed to flow in the drain or finally to the ocean. There should be series of check dams / barrages across drain / rivers to save water. If u save water at different intervals creating reservoirs , it recharge the ground water & increase the water table. Agricultural land near to reservoir hold residual moisture due to seepage which help in producing cash crops like vegetables, oilseed, pulses, millets etc. Contour trench, staggered trench on the slopes of hill should be excavated. Percolation tanks, farm ponds, water harvesting structure, dug wells should be excavated in large nos to save water & recharge  ground water.
Waste water should be used to maintain cricket ground, gulf field, community garden etc. Waste water should be filled in cistern to flush the commode, pan etc. Tap should be closed after use. Water use should be metered like electricity & rent should be collected as per use. These activities can save water as well as the living beings in future.
