Answer:-

The group of an element is predicted from number of electrons in the valence shell or/and penultimate shell(last but one i.e.(n-1) as follows.

For S- block element

  • No. of the group=no. Of valence electron

For P- block element

  • No.of the group=2+10+number of valence P electron.

For d- block element

  • No of the group=2+number of(n-1)d electron
