It is obvious that when objects move through fluids, they have to overcome the friction acting on them. In this process they lose energy. Efforts are, therefore, made to minimize the friction. So objects comes are given special shapes. The idea of special shapes from nature. Birds and fishes have must to move about in fluids all the time. Their bodies have evolved to shapes which would make them not to lose extra overcoming energy in friction. Such shapes are called streamlined. This is the reason ships and aeroplanes are given a shape which resembles the streamlined shapes of fishes and birds.
