simply we can protect ourselves from earthquake by...
first of all if you are in a building then leave that building and take place in an open area.
if you are in school or any other place where it's little difficult to get out then try to hide under a table or something which is strong enough to protect you if something falls from upward..

1. Hide under a desk or a table.
2. Protect your head and neck with your arms.
3. Stay away from objects which are vulnerable of collapsing such as electric posts, trees, bridges etc.
4.Stay inside until the shaking stops and it is safe to exit.
