Aim :

To prove that milk contains protein.

Apparatus required:

test tubes, 2%CuSO4 [COPPER SULPHATE]solution and 10% NaOH [SODIUM HYDROXIDE]solution.

Procedure:

1. Prepare 2% of CuSO4 soluion by dissolving 2 grms of CuSO4 in 100ml of water.

2. Prepare 10% of NaOH solution by dissolving 10 grms of NaOH in 100ml of water.

3. Take a test tube and pour 2 drops of CuSO4 solution and 10drops of NaOH solution along with milk in it.

Observation:

we observe that the milk will turn to violet or purple in colour which confrims the presence of proteins in milk.

Conclusion:

By this activity we can prove that milk contains proteins.
