how can we rename a background layer?​

Double-click the icon of a lock beside the background layer in Photoshop's Layers panel to open the New Layer dialog box. Click "OK" to rename the current background to "Layer 0." Click the icon of an eye next to the new "Layer 0" in the Layers panel to hide it.
