When we talk about Akbar’s secular credentials more than 400 years after his death, we must never loose sight of the fact that Akbar was an emperor, he fought wars and punished those who rebelled against his rule, which was the duty of an emperor.

That being said, Akbar was a great and true leader of Hindustan. He was born and raised a Muslim and he ruled a vast empire which encompassed all faiths known to humanity.

We can say that emporer jehangir was secular because he maintained friendly relations with rajputs. He installed a bell of justice outside his palace and any person irrespective of caste and religion could ring the bell and he personally heard their plea. He also build some of his monuments inspired from buddhist monastries.
