How can we say that music defined the story of our lifd?

Music is this beautiful and pretty much self explanatory universal language that everyone understands. It's something we are all exposed to right from when we are toddlers, from singing lullabies to little kids, nursery rhymes to preschoolers, listening to popular songs off the top of the charts, music is all around us.
Moreover, music you gotta realize is not just confined to sounds that come out of an instrument or an electronic device. Music is any form of sound with a rhythm to it and sometimes an accompanying harmony. The rustling of trees around you mixed with the blowing of the wind is a form of music in itself, raindrops falling against your windshield and your wiper wiping it off is again music. So as you can see, there's no escaping music really unless you confine yourself to a soundproof room with your mind hell bent on staying away from music.
Music soothes us, any genre or kind you like, it gives you pleasure and helps you deal with stress and anxiety. There's a reason why it's used extensively in therapy, look up music therapy.
All in all like I said at the very beginning it is a universal language, unique in itself like sign language is to the speech and/or hearing impaired. Maybe that's why it's important, maybe that's why we sing to "God" or to little kids, because it's pleasant? Probably. Is there a more superficial reason to it? Probably, but not one that I know of.
Shakespeare said "The earth has music for those who listen". Music is like a mediator between the spiritual and sensual life. Music is important because music is life, maybe that's why our hearts have beats.
