How can we show that exhaled air has more carbon dioxide that inhaled air??

For this we do a experiment as shown in the picture of the answer(taken from google) in the pic two knobs are missing whould should be there after the pipe c is diverged on both sides...

We first close the right knob and breathe in and we can observe that a lime water in left test tube does not turn much milky.

Then we close the left knob and open the right knob and breathe out the air. We see that the lime water in the right testube is totally milky.
