Now, the intriguing question why Punjab youths have landed in drugs that too in the heartland of a faith that had a valorous history, a faith that prohibits intoxicants, a faith that espouses disciplined life. Punjab’s economic situation has become so bad that the State is staring at economic ruins. The State which was once known for the highest participation in the armed forces is hardly able to find the able bodied youth in the Army selection trials due to the growing addiction of Punjabi youth to drugs?

Punjab was always known for cheerful festivals, joyful bhangra and the appetizing Makke Di Roti and Sarson Da Saag. So, how did this ugly picture take place?

The state fails to stop the bleeding deep within from ‘Narcoterrorism’. Partition, Operation Blue Star, communal riots, Black Thunder, terrorism, migrations etc., all this have collectively led Punjab to the ruins.

The place has seen poignant situations that sink the hearts of those who genuinely care for the state. The state which had outperformed rest of the India, in terms of growth & prosperity in the past, needs to be saved from the drug menace.

While the nation enjoyed the tremendous growth in agricultural production and the much-needed food security, Punjab celebrated its affluence and the accreditation of being ‘the most prosperous state of India’. With boundless prosperity, vibrancy, increased per capita income, better standards of living and larger than life image, the people of Punjab were reveling in the thrill of good times.

Over the past decade, Punjab has experienced deceleration of its economy, and has been seeing dwindling positions in the list of prosperous states of the country. Punjab, as of today, lags behind in industrial growth, agricultural sector etc..
