How can we tell that a group of words is a phrase or not.

it will not have a complete sense......

parthpatil1: but a sentence can have more than one phrase

1. If it doesn't make complete sense or is quite long.

2. If it does not have a finite verb.

3. If it doesn't have even a verb or both of them.

4. If it does not have a subject.
