Hey there! well I had the same doubt to.
In TSA (Total surface Area) we can understand when to find that. Certain questions when we have to find the total cost, Iof painting or whatever it is,we have to find the TSA. because by taking TSA, we will get the whole surface area which will determine it.
and CSa is curvaed surface Area is ftomard when we have to find the area of individual parts. This pic Will help you
