how can we test between saturated and unsaturated carbon compounds by bromine water test?
Answers
A simple test with bromine water can be used to tell the difference between an alkane and an alkene. An alkene will turn brown bromine water colourless as the bromine reacts with the carbon-carbon double bond. In fact this reaction will occur for unsaturated compounds containing carbon-carbon double bonds.

wo its very nice ques
When we add Bromine water to Satured carbon compound the bromine water does not lost it's red colour like butter is a saturated carbon compound it does not accept any other bromine water's atom because it is already saturated.
But When we add Bromine water to Unsatured carbon compound the bromine water lost it's red colour like Edible oil is a unsaturated carbon compound it accepts any other bromine water's atom because it is unsaturated and as result of its acception bromine water loose it's colour as it's atom.
I hope it will help you
