To write Electronic configuration(in short E.C.) you write the number of electrons present first shell, then you write the number of electrons present in the second shell, then you write the number of electrons present in the third shell and lastly you write the number of electrons in the last shell. (To verify it is correct, you sum up the E.C.)

FOR EXAMPLE:

E.C. of sodium(atomic number 11):-

2,8,1 - it sums up to 11

E.C. of calcium(atomic number 20):-

2,8,8,2 - it sums up to 20
