Answer:

In physical change no new substance is formed. For example-

sugar dissolving in water and sharpening of a pencil.

In this sugar is sweet in taste as well as water in which sugar is dissolved is also sweet in taste therefore no new substance is formed so it is a physical change.

In the other other example of sharpening of a pencil when we sharp a pencil the pencil remains pencil only only size changes not the substance therefore if no new substance is formed so it is a physical change.

In chemical changes a new substance is formed.

For example-

Burning of a paper

If we burn paper it converts to ash, it is a new substance formed, therefore of a new substance is formed so it is a chemical change
