On the basis of mode of nutrition organisms are classified as Autotrophic and Heterotrophic
Autotrophic organisms are the organisms that can produce their own food in the presecence of sunlight and water and are not depended on other organisms for food. Autotrophic organisms are also known as producers and are the primary organisms in the food chain. Example : Green plants, Algae etc. Heterotrophic organisms are those organisms that are depended on the producers for food. They may be secondry or tertiary organisms in food chain .Example :Human being, horse, cat etc.
