How can you contribute for afforestation in your area? What are the disadvantages of deforestation.​

The ways in which I can contribute to afforestation in my area are:

1) Planting trees in the area on an individual level and in areas which are accessible to and open for public.

2) Creating awareness among other people in society and asking for their contribution to saving our planet. Asking them to plant at least one tree for every member of their family.

Disadvantages of deforestation:

1) It contributes to less rainfall as trees are the main reason for the water cycle to complete.

2) Trees keep a hold of the topmost soil layer and reduce soil erosion but due to deforestation, soil erosion will occur more rapidly.

3) Decrease in the oxygen level in the environment as trees are the only living things, which help in maintaining the balance in the level of oxygen in the environment.

The disadvantages to deforestation are an increased amount of carbon dioxide emissions and soil erosion as well as the destruction of forest habitat and the loss of biological diversity of both plants and animals.
