How can you detect hardness of water collected from different sources

Water hardness can be easily measured using a simple soap test kit that will measure in "grains ofhardness" (a little bottle with a line marked on it which you fill to the line with water, add a drop of soap, and shake to look for suds. More drops of soap - more degrees of hardness).

We can detect the hardness of water taken from different sources by adding soap to it. If the soap does not form micelle in the water then it will be hard water.

In simple language if the soap doesnot disslove in water then it will be soft water.
