Contact forces act between bodies in contact. where as distance force ac between bodies separated by a distance. On every object on earth even part of earth which is not in contact with it exerts a force which is mostly distance force. but the additional force which the earth in contact applies on the body so that it does not move towards then center of earth is contact forces. All forces whether con tct or at distance obey Newton's third law and always occur in pairs of force acting between two distict bodies.

  • Contact forces involve push, pull and friction.
  • At a distance At a distance force is when two interacting force is when two interacting objects are not touching, for example: the moon and the Earth's seas.
  • At a distance forces encompasses gravity and magnetism. encompasses gravity and magnetism.
