Hi. ph is nothing but a measure to find the concentration of hydrogen ions concentration in a soln. Many also call ph as power of hydrogen. So we can increase the ph by adding solute such as an acid(containing H+ ions) to make the soln acidic and to decrease the ph. Similarly we can add basic solute to increase the ph and to make the soln basic.
