  • Oxygen can be identified through burning splinter test. If splint reignites in presence of gas, then it is oxygen.
  • Carbon dioxide can be identified through lime water test. If bubbled into lime water solution, carbon dioxide reacts and turns it milky, confirming it's presence.
  • They can also be identified through burning candle. Take the gas filled jar and keep burning candle into it. Presence of oxygen will be confirmed if it keeps burning. If it goes out, presence of carbon dioxide is confirmed.
