By bringing another known magnet to it, if the pole repulse then that is the same pole (either north or south)of the known magnet and if the pole attract then that will be the opposite pole. for example if you bring the north pole of the known magnet to either of the pole and if they repulse then that is the north pole of the unknown magnet, and if they attract then that will be the south pole of the unknown magnet.
Or
you can suspend the magnet with a string and after it rests in north-south direction you can mark the pole facing in North direction as the south pole of the unknown magnet and vic-versa.
